Ballistic has configured the LED and driver (supplies constant voltage and current to LED) in such a way as to maximise light output with out compromising the reliability. LED - stands for light emitting diode, which are made from silicon with small amounts of impurities added, when current passes through the LED, it emits photons as a by-product hence produces light.

Normal light bulbs produce light by heating a metal filament until it’s white hot, because LEDs produce photons directly and not via heat, they are far more efficient than incandescent bulbs or even HID lights.
